Wesley Kimutai Maiyo's Obituary
Wesley Kimutai Maiyo, 62, passed away November 6, 2016. He was born December 15, 1953 in Kenya, Africa to the late Barnabas and Taplulkwony Birchok.
Wesley was a Hall of Fame Runner from the University of Wyoming and an NCAA Track Champion. He qualified for the Olympics back in the 70’s. He holds track records to this day with the University of Wyoming and the University of Florida. Wesley won the Gasparilla Distance Classic in 1980 and 1982.
Wesley was employed and retired as a Recreation Supervisor for the City of Tampa for 32 years. He also retired as a computer programmer for USF after 25 years.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Connie; daughters, Jepkorir Maiyo of Brandon; Jelimo Maiyo of Temple Terrace; and Jerona Toledo and her husband Juan of Brandon; grandchildren, Malakwen, Ali, Kipshaya and Dalia; and several siblings who reside in Kenya.
