Shirley Scopano's Obituary
Shirley Arlene Scopano, nee Boorom was born October 15, 1930, in Oakfield, New York and raised by her aunt and uncle, Doris and Warren Boorom. She graduated from Oakfield Alabama Central High School and married her high school sweetheart Henry “Hank” Daniel Scopano. In addition to having four children, she worked as a telephone operator for the phone company. In 1960 the family moved to Tampa, Florida where two more children were born. In 1970 she and Hank started an auto parts business, “HanDee Auto Supply” which employed many family members until their retirement in 1994.
She was an incredibly creative and resourceful person. She could make anything; from sewing brides maids dresses, knitting mittens and scarves, crocheting innumerable afghans to baking bread and making handmade ravioli. She believed she could do anything she set her mind to do, and she did it.
She loved and lived for the Lord and faithfully read her Bible. While raising her children, she attended East Chelsea Baptist Church, and her children attended as well. She attended First Freewill Baptist Church in her later years.
In her last year's her children worked tirelessly together to make sure she was safe and happy. She leaves behind her children Barbara Knight (Charley), Raymond Scopano (Ileana), Brenda Brantley, Daniel Scopano (Tina), Suzanne Autrey (Randy) and Kathy Frament (deceased). She is also loved by 13 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
