Mildred Carter's Obituary
Mildred Karen Carter, of Tampa, FL relocated to her eternal home in heaven to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on the morning of April 12, 2025. She was 83 years old. Mildred was preceded in death by her mother and father, her sister Gail, and her husband of 57 years, Billy. Mildred is survived by her oldest sister; her three sons and three daughters-in-law, Troy (Jennifer), Steve (Susan), and Michael (Nicki); her 16 grandchildren (plus one on the way); and several nieces and nephews.
Born in Pasco County Florida on August 23, 1941, Mildred was the youngest of three children. Her parents raised their three daughters in Zephyrhills, Florida. As a child and teenager, Mildred and her sisters were very involved in their local church, First Baptist Zephyrhills.
Mildred graduated from Zephyrhills High School in 1958. While in high school, she played in the marching band, was a majorette, helped out in the school office, and was senior class secretary. After high school, Mildred enrolled at the University of Florida and began her pursuit of a college degree. She graduated in the spring of 1964, with a degree in Education.
After graduating from college, Mildred returned to the Pasco County / Hillsborough County area. She married Billy Carter in August 1965. Billy and Mildred moved to the Temple Terrace / Tampa area in the late 1960s and have stayed there ever since. During her long teaching career, Mildred taught preschool, junior high, and high school.
Mildred served faithfully in the ministries of the local church for the majority of her life. She taught Sunday school classes and bible studies for teenagers and adults for many, many years. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she loved her family. She was a devoted wife and mother. In her later years, she was a faithful caregiver to her husband until his final breath. She was a true servant and had a huge heart for ministering to others. She was a devoted prayer warrior and encourager. Mildred’s faith, character, and generous spirit impacted many. She will be greatly missed! She is fully restored now and sitting at the feet of Jesus!
