Col. Kenneth W. Davey's Obituary
Ret. Col. Kenneth W. Davey 101 part of “The greatest generation from WWII." passed the way August 15th 2015.
As a young man he joined the Army Air Corp to during WWII. Commanded several B-17 bombing missions over Germany. After the WWII, he remained in active duty serving in many countries, providing many capacities of organization and command. Just before his retirement of USAF, as a Commander of the 6921st Security Wing, he spent time in Misawa, Japan, Turkey and many other places in the Middle East as well as the Pentagon.
He received his BA from Washington University and his Masters in Economics from St. Mary's University, TX. After his retirement Ken, relocated to Tampa and worked at USF. As a professor of Economics and heavily involved with the Undergraduate Advising Office in the College of Business Administration. After over 20 plus years at USF, he retired from Academia. He volunteered in the SERVE program from years. He was involved with the early stages of the Republican Party of Tampa. He helped build and make it a stronger Political Party in Hillsborough County, FL. As a Committee Man he worked many campaigns for the election and re-election of Jeb Bush. He also worked tirelessly in campaigns for local, state and nationwide races including Former Presidents Bush 41 and 43. A very accomplished man who loved to travel through the USA and its' beauty. An avid golfer, played golf until he was 100. Wrote children stories, documentaries of his travels, as well as journeys and his autobiography.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Ana Isabel Davey, children, Mario Ramirez, Juan Ramirez (Patricia) of Orlando, Hernando Ramirez (Norma) of Tampa, Carlos Ramirez, (Marie) of Tampa. His daughter Ana Maria Piazza of Tampa, whom he was extremely close with and considered her "his favorite". Grandchildren, Christopher & Giovanni Piazza, Matthew, Jeanine & Anthony Ramirez and Taina Rivera. Three daughters, Patricia Keeley of Tampa, Judith Lombana (Robert Hornbeck) of Tampa. Sally Ling (Charles) of Boca Raton whom are also very loved. Grandchildren, Noelle Lombana (Richard Hall) and His Great Great-grandson Basil Hall of San Francisco. Many nieces and nephews from a very large family. Thank you to Life path Hospice Blue Team.
Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2015 from 10:00 to 12:00 at Sunset Funeral Home, 11005 N. US Highway 301, Thonotosassa, Florida. Funeral will begin at 12:00 followed by interment with Military Honors in Sunset Memory Gardens. Memories and condolences may be left online at www.sunset-fh.com.
