Dan Smith Jr's Obituary
Dan Smith, Jr. 1932-2025 Smith, Dan Jr., 92, from Plant City, Florida entered into the presence of the Lord on July 1, 2025. Dan was born in Waycross, Georgia on November 4,1932. He moved to Plant City, Florida in 1967. He retired from Lykes Brothers after 28 years of service. Dan loved his family, his Georgia Bulldogs, but most of all, he loved the Lord. He attended both Plant City Church of God and Plant City First Assembly where you would find him at every service he was physically able to attend. Dan was a devoted follower and a faithful servant of Christ. He found joy in prayer, strength in scripture, and peace in the promise of eternal life. As a young man, Dan played semiprofessional baseball for Waycross, Georgia where he pitched. In adulthood, Dan loved to bowl and played in several leagues. His average was 180, with a high score of 289. When asked about his life’s proudest family moments, he replied “the birth of my children”. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Dan Smith Sr. And Edna Lee Oliver; brothers, Edward Pittman, Robert Pittman, Jake Pittman; and sister, Dorothy Smith. Dan Is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Eloise Smith; Children, Angie Lowery, Pam Boswell (Anthony), Danny Smith (Janet) and Jeffrey Smith (Sherry); stepchildren, Lisa Hobbs (David) and James Cowart (Christine); 13 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; and Sisters, Alvena Music, Betty Cecil King, Alene Wingo, Wanda Lee and Modena Corbitt. A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 7 at Sunset Funeral Home, 11005 N. US Highway 301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592. Visitation will begin at 10am, with services to follow at 11am with Pastor Jeff Robinson and Pastor Jeremy Bendorf officiating.
