Clarence Daniel Hale's Obituary
Clarence Daniel Hale, age 83, lovingly known as Cooter, a lifelong resident of Branchton,
FL, rode his horse off into the sunset, on October 9, 2024, after a long and meaningful life.
Clarence was born to Daniel Ethan Hale and Thelma Lucille Dobbs, in Hillsborough
County, Florida. Growing up, Clarence spent his time learning and working on K-Bar Ranch,
eventually taking over his father’s Foreman Ranch Handler position.
In his free time, Clarence could be found at various rodeos, roping events, welding in his
shop, or making cow whips; that were sold around the world! He loved being with his large
extended family; attending lunch dates with grandchildren, teaching his grandson how to
make cow whips, great-grandchildren's school and sporting events, and various family
gatherings. Clarence would also make sure to meet the ‘boys’ for breakfast, every morning,
before the sun rose.
Clarence is survived by his daughter, Debra Riley (Robert) and stepchildren, Debbie
Hillabush (David), Brian Keith (Jessica). Grandchildren; Tim Riley (Heather), Eric Riley
(Tiffany), Melissa Thorne (Juan), Jesse Thorne (Victoria), Brittney LaClair (Johnathan), Wyatt
Wood (Cierra). Great-Grandchildren; Logan, Kevin, Russell, Alexa, Kyra, Aleya, Kayda,
Aiden, Logan, Cailynn (Baby-girl), Dylan, Domanick, Marley, Edmond, Milayah, Micah.
Clarence’s surviving brothers; Thomas “Buddy” Hale (Kathy), Terry Hale (Brenda); Sister-inlaw; Glenda Hale; Brother-in-law; Clifford Bohannon (Kay), Wayne Smith. Also surviving are
many extended family members and lifelong friends. Clarence was preceded in death by
his parents; brother Doyle Hale; and “The two most wonderful wives” as he would say;
Barbara (First wife) and Maida (Second wife).
A celebration of life for Clarence will be announced by the family, at a later date.
“Sometimes the trail is tough, but a Cowboy ain’t afraid to ride through the storm. It just makes the sunset that much sweeter.”
