Msgt Cecil Calvin Baker's Obituary
MSgt. Cecil Calvin Baker USMC (Ret), 86, of Temple Terrace, Fl., passed away on May 17, 2024.
Born on April 29, 1938, in Lakeland, Florida to Father Desto Baker and Mother Fearbie Weaks.
At the age of 17 he joined the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his Country for 22 years. During his career his served 2 tours of Duty in Vietnam and was awarded Navy and Marine Cops Achievement Medal presented for combat valor, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Citation, Seven Good Conduct Awards, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two campaign stars, Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Medal awarded for valorous combat achievement, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Rifle Expert Badge, Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, Navy Aircrew Insignia, and Several Letters and Certificates of Commendations.
The 2 areas of his life he was most proud of were his military service to his Country and his “Family “, whether blood related or not. He loved everyone in his life. Everyone knew they could always count on him to give honest answers, support, and help in any way he could. He taught us all some very important life lessons. He lived a full life, on his terms to the end. Heaven has a new angel to look over us. He will always be in our hearts, and he will be Greatly missed, until we meet again.
He is survived by his 2 loving daughters Barbara Jean Roush (James Roush) and Judy Cecille Olsen (Scott Wheeler), 5 siblings Melvin Clay Baker, Roger Eugene Baker, Daniel Ray Baker, Opal Star Baker-Gierschke, Ralph Leroy Holder, 2 grandchildren Brian Roush (Amber Roush) and Jessica Dunn (Ryan McGinnis), 4 great-grandchildren Cameron Roush, Domanick Roush, Elana Roush, and Kayson Russell. He had many nieces, nephews, extended family and Friends who were blessed to know and love him. He will be Greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Juanita Baker, granddaughter, Kimberly Roush, 3 Sisters and 5 brothers.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11005 N US Highway 301 Thonotosassa, Fl. 33592 Visitation 10:00am, Graveside Ceremony 11:00am
