Carmen Hope Miller's Obituary
Carmen Hope Bandoo Miller was born on August 25, 1940, in Bay Road, Jamaica, to Alfred and Nora Bandoo. From a young age, Hope demonstrated strength, intelligence, and an unwavering drive to make a difference in the world. She excelled at Manning High School in Savanna-la-Mar and went on to become a registered nurse in Jamaica, a testament to her dedication to helping others.
In 1955, Hope met the love of her life, Venden Miller. They were high school sweethearts, and their bond was unbreakable. However, due to family circumstances, Venden moved to England in 1958. Despite the distance, their love never waned. During their time apart, Hope welcomed her beloved son, Peter Bandoo, in 1969, and continued to focus on building a better life for herself and her family.
In pursuit of a brighter future, Hope moved to the United States, where she made a home for herself and her son. She worked hard earning her bachelor’s degree from Medgar Evers College in New York and always striving to ensure a better life for those she loved.
In 1982, after years apart, Hope reconnected with Venden. Their love story, which began as teenagers in Jamaica, was rekindled, and they reunited as husband and wife, building a life together filled with love, joy, and mutual respect. Their bond was a testament to true love and perseverance—a love that stood the test of time and distance, reminding everyone that true love knows no boundaries.
Carmen Hope Bandoo Miller was much more than a loving wife and mother; she was the heart and soul of her family. She was a constant source of support and encouragement, always there for her loved ones when they needed her most. Her nurturing spirit knew no bounds, and she was the glue that held her family together. Whether it was offering a helping hand, a listening ear, or a warm embrace, Hope was always ready to provide whatever was needed, without hesitation.
A deeply spiritual woman, Hope lived up to her name, “Hope,” in every sense of the word. She showed those around her that, no matter the circumstances, there is always hope in life. She was a beacon of love and light to all who knew her. Her kindness, wisdom, and strong faith left an indelible mark on her family and friends.
Hope's love for her family extended beyond her immediate circle. She was instrumental in bringing her siblings to the United States, ensuring they had the opportunities to build better lives. Her selflessness didn’t stop there—Hope was a rock for her nieces and nephews, always ready to offer guidance, encouragement, and a safe haven in times of need. Her warm hospitality made everyone feel like family, and her home was always open to those in need.
Carmen leaves behind her beloved husband, Venden Miller; her son, Peter Bandoo; her stepchildren, Donna, Dwayne, and Darin; her siblings; her grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family; and countless friends who loved her dearly.
