Homegoing services for Elder Willie Frank Johnson Sr. will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Apostles, Inc., 12055 Jackson Rd, Thonotosassa, FL 33592. Elder Johnny Mack Carter Jr. will officiate.
Burial will follow at Sunset Funeral Home, 11005 N. U.S. Highway 301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592.
Elder Willie Frank Johnson Sr. was born to Lee Cooledge Johnson and Sarah Lee Coleman on April 17, 1946, and passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026. He was a pillar and devoted member of The Church of Apostles, Inc. under the leadership of Bishop Johnny Mack Carter Sr., serving as an integral part of the pastoral ministry. He attended public schools in Hillsborough County and served in the United States Army as a Truck Master.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lee Cooledge Johnson and Sarah Lee Coleman; Luther Gadsden Sr.; Aunt Idella Mitchell, Uncle Rubin Mitchell; son Willie Frank Johnson Jr. (Eunice); brother Luther (LB) Gadsden Jr.; sister Shirley Y. Dupree; and granddaughter Aniceia Benjamin.
Elder Johnson is survived by his loving wife, Katie Bell Johnson; his daughters Bridget (Jason), Tameka (Walter), Latanya (Lavell), and Tiffany Brown; sons Eric (Lencia), Jason (Rashima), Chris (Guin), 26 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; sisters Sarah (James), Naomi (Johnny), and Annette Johnson; brothers Earl (Harriett) and Michael (Leathy); godchild Ashanti Camon; and host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
