William "Bill" Perkins Jr.'s Obituary
William Craig Perkins, Jr., 66, passed away August 16, 2017. He was born December 10, 1950 in Fort Monroe, Virginia to the late William Sr. and Mary (Colgate) Perkins. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his sister, Billie.
Bill came to Sarasota in 1992 from New Jersey where he had been on the stage crew for the Miss America Pageants for 16 years in Atlantic City. He managed lighting and sound for many theaters and churches over the years since he was in high school. He was a member of Sarasota Baptist Church and the Theater Union. Bill enjoyed his work with the Sarasota Baptist Disaster Relief Team and coaching for the Special Olympics. He also was an avid scuba diver and liked to fish and travel.
Left to Cherish his memory are his sister, Patti Perkins-Koopman of Sarasota; brother-in-law, Thomas Campanella of Del Ray Beach, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
