Rev. William Grover Autrey's Obituary
Autrey, Rev. William G., 86, of Tampa, is walking on streets of pure gold, viewing all the splendor of Heaven. On August 25, 2018, as his family gathered around his bedside, singing songs of praise and worship, he stepped into the presence of the King of Kings. He was an ordained minister of the gospel and a licensed minister with the ALJC for 31 years. He was dedicated to First Pentecostal Tabernacle for 65 years, serving as S.S. superintendent, deacon, trustee, treasurer, associate pastor, pastor and most recently bishop. He was a loyal friend, mentor and hero to many. He excelled in administrative skills and abilities. His wisdom and passion will survive in his family. We can all testify to his powerful influence of guidance and leadership. He made a difference in this world and left a lasting impression. He was a supervisor with Affiliated of Florida for 39.5 years and served in the U.S. Army & Army Reserve. As a young man, he played music with his family, being the fiddle player and played guitar in church for many years. William is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 64 years, Sylvia; his children, Deborah (George) Jacobs, Randy (Suzie), Gary (Brenda); grandchildren, Meashell (Chris), Daniel (Lacey), Eric (Ariel) and Erika; great-grandchildren, Christen, Caylee, Maley, Samuel; a brother, Emory; two sisters Amber and Opal; his mother-in-law, Mary McNatt and his loving church family. William Autrey, you are worthy of double honor! Great is your reward. Faithful warrior of the Lord Jesus Christ, we will see you soon. We know that now, you are….“Feeling Mighty Fine.” A celebration of life will take place at 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 31, at First Pentecostal Tabernacle, 7416 E. Mohawk in Tampa. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 N. US Highway 301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Pentecostal Tabernacle.
