Wesley Metzger's Obituary
Wes Metzger. age 89, passed away peacefully July 15, 2020 at the home of his daughter in Tampa, FL.
He was born and raised in Henryville, Indiana and loved his hometown. He was a 1949 graduate of Henryville High School. During his time in Henryville he was active in the Presbyterian Church, and he served as Chaplain of the Correctional Boys Camp in the forestry during the 1960's. He enjoyed flying, had his pilot's license, and ownership in a private plane. He was an artist and taught painting at Indiana University Southeast. He painted the mural in the Presbyterian Church in Henryville (which is still there) and a mural in the Baptist Church. In 2005, he painted an oil portrait of of then President Bush and his wife, Laura, which hangs in their private collection in Crawford, TX. He enjoyed painting, even completing a painting during his final week while in Hospice Care.
He is survived by 5 children, Barbara VanRuler of Sellersburg, IN, Susan Dorough of Salem, UT, Terry Metzger of Louisville, KY, Lisa Lubowiecki of Tampa, FL, and Lee Metzger of Culpepper, VA; 15 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.
All services will be held privately by the Family.
