Violanda Rosemary Alfonso's Obituary
ALFONSO, Violanda “Violet” Rosemary, 87, of Ybor City, Tampa, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2020.
She was born on March 27, 1933 to parents Joe and Mary (Di Lorenzo) Puleo.
Violet was raised in Ybor City, graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1952. She worked at Newbury’s Department Store in Tampa before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Cesar P. Alfonso, in 1954 in Tampa. They settled in Havana, Cuba for several years before returning to Tampa in 1960. Violet was a homemaker, who loved to entertain, and to travel.
She was a member of the RotaryAnns of Ybor City for many years and enjoyed working with her friends at Burdine’s Department Store from 1970 until 1997. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and especially her grandchildren.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Cesar, after 42 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mary Puleo, and her sisters, Angelina Trafficante and Adelina “Evelyn” Martinez. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis Cannella, her three sons, Cesar and wife Julie, Robert and wife Clara, and Dennis and wife Nancy; and her grandchildren,Robert, Kaci, Daniel, Alexander, Juliana, India, Marcella and Gabriella.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, 10424 St. Stephen’s Circle, Riverview, Florida. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Garden, 11005 North US 301, Thonotosassa.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be considered to Life Path Hospice At Sun City, 3723 Upper Creek Drive, Ruskin, FL 33573, where she was well cared for in her final days.
