Velna Pearl Williams' Obituary
VELNA JONES WILLIAMS of Tampa, was born May 23, 1919, in Callahan Florida to Esther and Elliott Jones, Sr. A beloved woman, Velna Jones Williams, lived in God’s grace for ninety-nine years. She is survived by her daughters, Marie Alley; Carol (Connie) O’Brien; Nadine (Dave) D’Ardenne; Mary (Robert) Ayo; and Cheryl (Les) Marshall; and was predeceased by her daughter, Annette Rua; her son-in-law, Ed Alley and grandsons, David and Steve Alley. The love of Velna’s life and father of her children, J. Marcus Williams, taught her what true love means. Her love of plants spurred Marvel Nursey on Central Ave. Following his passing, she married Tony Reniak and learned to golf at the age of 70. Mrs. Williams had six loving daughters, 20 wonderful grandchildren, 43 incredible great grandchildren, and 9 amazing great, great-grandchildren. She remains a role-model for all. As a kindergarten teacher for the City of Tampa’s Flora and Central Playground (Hobby House) and at Seminole Heights “Legion” PreSchool, Mrs. Williams taught generations of children, inspiring them to grow in spirit and strength. She also infused each with vital life skills, learned through her own high school sports experiences. When asked what wisdom she most wants to share, she said “to know God.” So, it is with the greatest love and appreciation, that we ask you, Dear Velna, to rest in Peace, in the company of angels.
