Troy "T Van" Van Vaerenbergh's Obituary
Troy “T Van” Van Vaerenbergh 67, passed away on October 26th, 2024 due to a spinal cord injury. Following a lengthy hospital stay, he passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
Troy was born in Lutz, Florida to Donna and Philip Van Vaerenbergh on September 2, 1957. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Philip “Eddie” Van Vaerenbergh. He is survived by his wife Renee, son Philip, stepdaughter Lexie, and sister Valinda. He was a proud grandfather to Ayla, Graham, and Edward.
After graduating from high school, Troy was a volunteer firefighter before starting a 28-year career with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, where he served from 1977-2005. He retired as Captain and was known fondly as Captain “T Van”. Troy loved fishing, working on projects, and spending time with family. He enjoyed taking road trips to North Carolina with his wife in their motorhome.
Troy will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens on November 6th, 2024. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm and services will be held at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to “Seaside Seabird Sanctuary” in Indian Shores, FL. This was one of Troy’s beloved spots where he often took family and friends.
