Mr. Teddy Russell York's Obituary
Teddy York, born September 9, 1939, passed away on May 18, 2026.
During his time in the United States Navy, Ted developed a deep love for travel and exploration, visiting destinations around the world and collecting stories that would stay with him for a lifetime. Among his most memorable experiences were attending the World’s Fair in New York City and traveling through Amsterdam, a place he especially admired. His love of travel eventually led him to Honduras, where he met the love of his life, Ana, beginning a journey that would shape the rest of his life.
Though he was known for starting more projects than he finished, he found joy in the act of creating, from crafting small woodworking pieces like Halloween decorations to helping build an entire home in Lutz alongside friends. He also had a lifelong love of all things spooky—stories, movies, and historic places filled with mystery—and treasured the time spent with his family visiting St. Augustine, one of America’s oldest and most haunted cities, which became his favorite destination. Ted also loved to cruise with family and friends.
In addition to his love of family and travel, Ted dedicated himself to serving his community through his work as a firefighter. While balancing family life, his career was rooted in service to others. He remained stoic and humble in sharing his experiences, yet his quiet dedication touched the lives of many.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Willard York and Velma French, and his sister, Karen York. Ted is survived by his wife, Ana York; his children, Kelsey Brown and Cory York; his beloved grandchildren, Charlie Brown, Kaisen Brown, and Athena York; his sister, Connie Anders; nieces Holly Keller and Eryn Shinault; and extended family.
Services will be held beginning at 0900, at Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 N US Hwy, Thonotosassa, FL 33592
