Susan Jeanette Clark's Obituary
Susan Jeanette Clark, 76, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on April 9, 2026. Susan, known as “Sue” to those who knew and loved her, lived a life marked by strength, resilience, and a deeply giving heart.
She faced many challenges throughout her life, yet never complained and continued to push forward with quiet strength. Sue was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back—her kindness and generosity touched many. She was a proud daughter who shared a special bond with her father, Clarence Clark, whom she loved deeply. She carried that love with her throughout her life, often expressing it through her passion for writing poetry.
Sue was the mother of one son, Claude Wayne Cotton. She was a loving grandmother to Aaron Cotton and Cheyenne Cotton, and a devoted great-grandmother. Aaron Cotton is the father of Michael, Matthew, Colton, and Caden Cotton. Cheyenne Cotton is the mother of Gabriella, Jordan, and Gavin Jean Philippe. Sue also shared a special bond with her daughter-in-law, Ruthie Cotton, whom she loved as her own. For a time, Sue lived in Massachusetts with her son, cherishing those months spent close to family.
Sue had a deep love for reading, writing, and teaching. She especially enjoyed teaching cursive and sharing stories with those around her. Her dream was to become a teacher, but her greatest role in life became being a mother—a role that gave her a purpose she cherished. She taught not only through words, but through her life, leaving lasting impressions on her children, grandchildren, and everyone she encountered.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Clark and Shirley Chesser. She is survived by her son, Claude Wayne Cotton; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brothers, Philip Clark and Douglas Clark; and her sisters, Debbie Massey, Tammy Clark, and Heather Chesser.
Sue was truly one of a kind—strong, intelligent, beautiful, and deeply unique. She lived a life that was not always easy, but it was meaningful and full of love. She will be remembered for her strength, her stories, her wisdom, and the love she gave so freely. She will never be forgotten.
