In Loving Memory of Simon Diaz

Simon Diaz, born in Chile on February 12, 1944, passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Simon is survived by his devoted wife, Delia Diaz, and his beloved sons: Rodrigo Diaz, Daniel Diaz, David Diaz and his wife Violet Diaz, along with their soon-to-be daughter, Aria—Simon’s first grandchild. He is remembered fondly by many extended family members and dear friends.
A man of great intellect and deep faith, Simon earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and went on to complete his postdoctoral studies at the University of Puerto Rico. Over the years, he developed a profound love for Puerto Rico, its people, and its culture, becoming known as a beloved adopted son of the Island.
Simon dedicated much of his career to the pharmaceutical industry, earning patents for medical discoveries, where he made meaningful contributions until his retirement in 2014.
Simon was an ordained minister whose passion for teaching and preaching God’s Word touched countless lives. Simon led by example—living a life rooted in integrity, humility, and service. His actions reflected his faith, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
An accomplished athlete, Simon lived life with great energy and enthusiasm with a special love for soccer, tennis, and running. He was also a gifted musician who brought joy through playing his guitar and the cuatro, often filling his home and gatherings with heartfelt music and song.
Simon will be remembered for his devotion to family, his generosity of spirit, and his unwavering faith in God. His legacy of love, knowledge, and service will continue to live on through the many lives he inspired.
He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
