Santiago Ramos' Obituary
Santiago Ramos of Brooklyn, New York and Tampa, Florida went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2023, at the age of 71, after a prolonged battle since 2012 with the effects of multiple strokes.
He was the son of Juan Ramos and Antonia Maldonado, was born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico and grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York. He was the youngest of four children, Antonio Ramos (deceased), Teofila Arenas and Juan Ramos Jr. (deceased).
He is survived by his sister, Teofila Arenas of Brooklyn, New York & Temple Terrace, Florida. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Pablo Arenas Jr., Elizabet Velez Valentin, Diana Rodriguez, Marcos A. Arenas, Rebecca Arboleda and Vanessa Bonilla, grand nieces and nephews, Natalie Arenas, Aaron Arenas, Faith A. Velez, Grace R. Velez, Jordan D. Velez, Shadrach Rodriguez, Samson Rodriguez, Marcos A. Arenas Jr., Jezrahiah Arenas, Zephaniah Arenas, Isaiah Arboleda, Noah Arboleda, Kyara E. Perez, Justin E. Perez, Elysa J. Perez, Gideon E. Bonilla and McKenzie G. Bonilla, and great grandniece, Emma Vargas. Also, uncles, an aunt, cousins and many friends.
Santiago graduated from High School in Brooklyn, New York. He worked at Bedford Stuyvesant Community Mental Health Center as a Mental Health Counselor. He was also the caregiver of his mother, father and brother and he volunteered his carpentry and handyman services to his fellow neighbors and friends. His hobbies included designing new inventions, studying science, collecting comic books and carpentry.
During his medical difficulties, he repeatedly expressed to his family that he experienced a profound and transformative encounter with God. In the midst of uncertainty and fear, he found solace in a moment of divine intervention. In this extraordinary experience he felt the Holy Spirit and to his amazement he heard the comforting voice of God. It was an encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, a spiritual revelation that brought immense peace to his troubled soul.
A loyal and dedicated son, brother, uncle and friend, Santiago Ramos will be forever loved and deeply missed. He leaves behind an abundance of cherished memories.
