Sandra Gummo's Obituary
Gummo, Sandra Carol Cothron, 57, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on January 1, 2021. As a life-long Tampa resident, Sandra, also maintained dual residence in State College, Pennsylvania. Sandra graduated from C. Leon King High School in 1981. She was an active member of Half Moon Fellowship Church in Port Matilda, PA and Grace Family Church in Tampa, FL where she participated in many church community and service programs. Sandra was known for her love of God, family and service to others. She was a strong woman of faith with a “servant’s heart” whose character was exemplified through the grace, generosity, kindness and dedication shown to serving others. As a dear friend so eloquently stated, “she was so beautiful, with a smile that would light up a room. She was kind, generous and incredibly strong.” She embraced being a mother to her three children which she loved unconditionally and admired so much. She always had a positive attitude when facing the challenges and adversities of life. Sandra lived her life to the fullest with gratitude and joy in her heart. The family wishes to express with heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all those who reached out to provide love, support and encouragement through cards, texts and phone calls throughout her illness. Sandra’s deepest desire was to share her love of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His influence on her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Gummo, her parents and a brother. She is survived by her loving children, Ashley L. Sims, Kristin N. Sims and Thomas H. Sims III. Her siblings: George “Andy” Cothron Jr., James Larry Cothron, Stephen Michael Cothron (Dorothy), Gary Douglas Cothron, Sharon Cothron Daniel (Gregory), Karen Cothron Diemert (Patrick), Beverly Cothron (Jorge) and many nieces and nephews all of Tampa.
A funeral service will be held at Grace Family Church, 8610 Temple Terrace Hwy, Temple Terrace, Florida 33617 on Thursday, January 7, 2021. Visitation will begin at 4:00 pm, Service at 6:00 pm and Fellowship with refreshments at 7:00 pm. Though we will be wearing masks and social distancing; a link to Grace Family Church for live stream on Youtube will be available for those unable to attend from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
