Ruth Belinkie Pollinger's Obituary
Our hearts are saddened to announce the passing of Ruth (Belinkie) Pollinger on April 6, 2024, two months shy of her 99th birthday, in Tampa, FL.
Ruth was born June 4, 1925, daughter of Fannie and Samuel Belinkie, of Bridgeport CT.
She attended Harding High School, Bridgeport, CT, graduated from Syracuse University, and received her Masters Degree in education from the university of Bridgeport.
She taught school from 1956 in NJ, 1964 in CT, until she retired in 1980 from Framingham MA school system.
Ruth and her late husband Merrill Pollinger moved to Boynton Beach, FL in 1991. They loved traveling across the US and Europe with their many friends. They were expert bridge and mahjong players. Ruth belonged to numerous clubs: book club, knitting club, women’s club, social committees at Palm Chase in Boynton Beach.
They especially loved the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Laurie Casner Lynch and husband Kevin, daughter Andrea Pollinger, daughter Beth Casner Andrews, and son Arnie Pollinger and wife Robin Perlow.
She had 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and including beloved sister Marion Ashkins and niece Cindy Ashkins.
Ruth also had 3 brothers, Milton, Isadore, and Hy who preceded her in death.
The last year of Ruth’s life was spent in Tampa FL at the Legacy at Highwoods Preserve.
