Rana Soylu's Obituary
Rana Soylu, 93, passed away September 17, 2017. She was born November 11, 1923 in Turkey to the late Riza and Raife (Bayhan) Soylu. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son Alev; and her brother Cahit.
Rana came to the Plant City in 1974 from Boston, Mass. She volunteered for the South Florida Baptist Hospital. She enjoyed making flower arrangements for their patients and cooking. Every Christmas she would make large trays of baklava to give to her family and friends. It was so good, she won a Blue Ribbon at the Strawberry Festival in Plant City. Her recipe for it even got published in their cookbook.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 70 years, Ratip; son, John Soylu of Clearwater Beach; and she was a wonderful aunt to Erdal, Serpil, Raife and Hale.
There will be a visitation on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 10 to 11am at Sunset Funeral Home, 11005 N. US Highway 301, Thonotosassa, Florida 33592. Funeral will begin at 11 followed by interment in Sunset Memory Gardens. Memories and condolences may be left online at www.sunset-fh.com.
