Paul T Ashby's Obituary
Paul T. Ashby, 80, originally from Pittsburgh, PA. and longtime resident of Tampa passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025. He was pre-deceased by his mother Dorothy, father Theodore brothers Robley and David, a sister Deborah and his significant other of many years, Carolyn. He is survived by his sister Janice, brother Donald, (Rosemary) and sister Sharon. Additionally, he is survived by his former wives, Linda and Annette, four nieces, two nephews, five great nieces, and two great nephews. Paul joined the US Navy at the very young age of 17. He served from 1962 to 1966 and traveled the world. After his discharge, he served another six years in the Navy reserve. He retired from Mosler Safe Company after 20 years of service where he worked installing safes, ATMs and security systems for banks and stores. After retiring from Mosler he worked for many years at Radiant Oil Company in the Tampa Bay area. He enjoyed attending family get togethers to celebrate holidays and birthdays. One of the last gatherings he attended was to celebrate his 80th birthday. Paul had many interests and enjoyed the learning process as he took up new hobbies. Over the years, he enjoyed growing bonsai plants, cooking, baking, beer making, and was an avid collector of coins, knives, music and pottery. Attending the Daytona 500 and the Sebring 12 for many years fulfilled his love of car racing. Paul enjoyed taking many driving trips, he especially liked the trips out west to Oklahoma and California. He became an Oklahoma Sooners fan after he and Carolyn spent time in Oklahoma. The family is very thankful for the care Paul received over the years at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa and also the care from Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Diabetes Society, Hospice or the American Kidney Fund.
