Davis, Patricia Phyllis' Obituary
Patricia Phyllis “Pat” Davis, Age 90, of Dade City, Florida, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on November 7, 2025, after a long and courageous struggle with multiple illnesses.
Born on 28 July in Brentford, Middlesex, England, Pat was a Christian, mother of five, adventurous traveler, animal lover, dedicated registered nurse, independent and strong woman who could be counted on to lend you her ear if you wanted to talk, sometimes spending hours on the phone or in person going from one topic to the next. Pat was also known for her determination and spunk, as she would turn away most offers for help, frequently stating she could do it herself. She approached her aging and declining health with grace and grit, many times not even letting on how getting old affected her, other than her dislike of her wrinkles.
In Pat’s life, she weathered many storms, starting at a very young age during World War II in her small town outside of London, England. She would tell stories of how the bombs could be heard whistling in the distance, and going to school she and her sister, Sheila, would have to wear gas masks, endure evacuations to air raid shelters and witness attacks on her town that left many homes in ruins. As a young adult, she married an American GI who was stationed in England, left her home country, and started a new life in America, where she eventually became a Naturalized Citizen. She took time to raise her five children and decided to enter Nursing school and became an LPN as a single mom after her first marriage ended. She worked for the Veteran’s Administration Hospital Spinal Cord unit in Tampa, where she met and eventually married John Davis, a Disabled Veteran. After his death, Pat moved to Dade City and made the decision later on in her 40-year nursing career to go back to school to earn her bachelor’s degree as a Registered Nurse. She also went back to earn a degree in Criminal Justice and worked for a brief time as a prison guard. She retired from nursing in 2005, after spending the last years of her career working at a medical clinic in Jamaica, a country that she loved and called home until 2013. She moved back to Florida, where she continued to meet new friends and travel until her failing health clipped her wings in 2024. Pat’s final journey was her most treasured and precious journey, along the finest, sun-lit pathway to her Heavenly home, where she was welcomed with open arms by our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Pat is survived by her 5 adult children, Jennifer Olney, Oscar Olney (Loretta), Michele Olney Dauer (Joseph), Charles Olney (Ply), and Guy Olney (Lisa); her 8 grandchildren, Jessica, Adrianna, Stephanie, Charlene, Ben, Joshua, Deidra and Genai; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Sheila Squires (Mick); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Davis, and her parents, Leonard and Agnes Harris.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Ally Cat Allies or a charity of your choice in honor of Patricia’s legacy.
