Braithwaite, Patricia's Obituary
Patricia Damon Braithwaite age 83 of Tampa died at Advent Hospital on September 27, 2025 at 7:11pm of natural causes.
She was born on September 16, 1942 in MIami, Florida to Howard Damon Martin and Ernie Louise Mason (Maiden Name). As a small child she resided in Miami until moving to the Tampa area where her parents purchased a home in Forest Hills, she attended Adams Jr. High School and went on to graduate from Chamberlain High School in 1961. Patricia was married 3 times in her life and was a widow who lost her last husband Roger L Braithwaite in November of 1990.
There is so much I could say about my mother but I really wouldn't be able to adequately describe the woman that she was. Patricia (my Mama Pat) came to live with me (Michele Garrett) in March of 1991 not long after my step dad passed away and just weeks before my daughter was born, she stayed with me for 30 years until it was best for her to transition to her final residence at Tampa Lakes Nursing Home. In her younger years she loved to cook ( she made one of the most tender pot roast you ever tasted and the best lemon meringue pie),she loved to play cards and to socialize with friends, she loved taking trips to the local stores even if just to sit and people watch, she loved to dance and going to the auction with my step-dad, and oh how she loved a good cold red-eye which is beer with tomato juice and salt for those of you who don't know, but as time went on and she got older she slowed down and enjoyed coloring, doing word search puzzles, making beaded bracelets, and going for car rides. She liked to watch Hallmark movies even if she knew she had already seen them multiple times before and she watched her game shows daily with Family Feud being the one she watched the most. She loved to sit outside in the sunshine on a good hot day and watch all the birds and other critters play, but she disliked the cold and always wanted a blanket to warm her. Pat loved all people and could talk on the phone for hours, she would call her sister (My Aunt Norma) every day and just talk and talk, not even letting my aunt get a word in edgewise. She loved fast food and would always ask that I bring her home a big juicy burger with onions and a really cold Coca Cola or she often would ask for a vanilla milkshake because they were her favorite). She collected porcelain dolls, clown figurines, and any little trinket someone gave her was always special to her. She loved getting flowers for any reason but always looked for and thought more of the little card that came with them, you know the one with the simple little note. She held onto things forever as I will hold onto her and the memories that I shared with her during her time here on earth.
Patricia is preceded in death by both of her parents Howard and Louise Martin, her husband Roger Braithwaite, her sister Martha Allison, and her son Danny KInsman.
She is survived by her children Michael Martin, Michele Garrett (James), and Anthony Felder, her grandchildren James Garrett II, Christopher Garrett, Destinie Garrett, Tyler Crigger, Trevor Martin(Alisha), and Cody Martin(Jessica), her great grandchildren Hailee Garrett, America Garrett, Serenity Garrett, Lisa Garrett, Gunner Garrett, Quinn Martin, and Penny Martin, her sister Norma Martin and lots of nieces and nephews.
