Orphie McCalvin's Obituary
Orphie Fuller McCalvin, 92 was born in Jack, Alabama on September 15, 1928. She entered Heaven’s gates on March 21, 2021, from her home in Tampa, Florida.
She loved her children and family; and was a kind and loving person who put others first; and a loving mother, homemaker, and cashier at a convenience store. Orphie loved working with her flowers. Over the years, she received gifts of porcelain dolls and collected miniature State spoons everywhere she traveled. She enjoyed watching soap operas, crime dramas, and working on solving word puzzles, playing boardgames and cards with her family.
Orphie had an unwavering faith in God. She was a member of First Baptist
Church of Wewahitchka. Over the years, she collected a plethora of Gaither
music. She religiously listened and prayed along while singing the Southern Gospel hymns that she enjoyed watching on her numerous gospel CD’s and videos. Orphie loved the Lord and loved spreading His word.
Orphie was predeceased by her loving husband of 36 years, David H. McCalvin.
She was also predeceased by her parents Silas W. and Lula M. Smith Fuller,
two sisters, Lillian L. Tyler and M. Jewell Thomason, along with four brothers, R. Ray Fuller, Asa J. Fuller, S. Nelson Fuller and B. Rudolph Fuller: and a grandson, Jeffrey W. Holmes. Orphie is survived by two daughters, Susan E. Holmes and Lori A. Galarza, and son Michael D. McCalvin. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Sandra E. Holmes, Matthew L. Holmes, Pamela G. Cooley, and Michael D. McCalvin II. She had four great-grandchildren, Jacob T. Holmes, Matthew L. Holmes II, James W. Holmes and E. Jude Cooley. Her daughter, Lori and son Michael were with her at home in Tampa when she entered the presence of the Lord. The family gives everyone who cared for Orphie in her last year’s their greatest gratitude.
The family will hold a service celebrating her life at a future date and time.
Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
