Nelida Rosado Jimenez's Obituary
Nelida Jimenez was born in a small town, Bejuco, San Sebastián Puerto Rico in a manger by her mother, Antonia Arocho Rosado & Gregorio Rosado.
Baptized in at a catholic chapel, “la capilla de San Sebastián” at the plaza in Puerto Rico.
Nely was trained by her mother to be a seamstress at the early age of 3 & serviced the community throughout her life. She serviced & raised her siblings at 10 years of age due to parent’s circumstantial absence.
At the age of 14 she won a blue ribbon prize as the best needle point seamstress for a bed cover/ duvet with roses with ribboned vines around the border.
She married at the age of 23 to Eladio Jimenez Gonzalez (born 5/8/1935). They moved to Brooklyn,New York in 1959.
Nely, had her first son, Eladio Jimenez Junior born December 1960.
September 1965, she gave birth to her only daughter, Migdalia Jimenez, (a.k.a. “M.J.”) She trained her daughter to teach about the holy sacraments, faith, & grace….
February 1968 she had her second son, Bernardo Jimenez born. She continued to raised her children as devout Catholics.
She was a devote parishioner at St. John’s Evangelist Church in Park Slope Brooklyn serving with tailored clothing & providing food & rosary prayers in the community.
She became a Crusillista, (a catholic apostolic movement) & served as Eucharistic minister throughout her life.
She was the baby sitter for Juan Carlos Carril & later his children, & Rueben & Marilyn Hernandez’ children, & other children in the family.
She retired in Temple Terrace Florida & enrolled in Corpus Christi Catholic Church 25 years ago. She served the community at the St. Vincents de Paul pantry throughout her life providing food & tailored clothing to the poor & the needy.
She prayed daily with Mother Angelica’s rosary on EWTN’s catholic channel.
Nelida Rosado Jimenez served with humility & grace.
She will be remember as a holy & loving mother, sister, wife, & friend. May Nelida Rosado Jimenez rest in peace. Amen.
