Monique Paroz-Anderson's Obituary
Monique Paroz-Anderson (1958 – 2024) entered heaven on August 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and her savior, Jesus Christ. After surviving breast cancer earlier this year, Monique passed away from complications from an infection after a brief hospitalization. Beloved wife of Michael Anderson, devoted mother to Kelly (Michael) Willett, Alexia (Steve) Young, and Troy (Sara) Anderson, doting Nana to Greyson and Finley Willett, Isabella and Mia Young, and Joey and Bailey Anderson. She is survived by her mother Ella Paroz and her siblings Pierre (Gale) Paroz, Ariane Greenwald, Caqui (David) Kelley, and Mimi (Michel) Clark. Preceding her in death are her father, Gerard Paroz, and her brother Rene (Sandy) Paroz.
Born on December 11, 1958 in Cincinnati, OH to Swiss immigrants who raised her to value education, work hard, and love Christ. Monique was proud of her Swiss heritage, traveling to Europe many times, where she learned to speak several languages. After graduating from Walnut Hills High School in 1977, she met the love of her earthly life, Michael Anderson, at Xavier University. They continued their education together at the University of Wisconsin, where they married in 1980 and she received a Bachelor of Elementary Education in 1981. Monique spent years serving the Milwaukee public school system as a French immersion teacher until she made caregiving her fulltime career.
Monique became a mother to their three children in 1983, 1984, and 1986. After leaving Milwaukee, they raised their children in Omaha, NE, Detroit, MI, and Charleston, WV, before settling in Birmingham, AL in 1999. She was an active mother who supported her husband’s career and her children’s many activities. Monique followed the teachings of her savior, Jesus Christ, and lived a life of service for others. She selflessly cooked for the less fortunate at the Jimmy Hale Mission shelter and for members of the Shades Valley Presbyterian Church.
In 2011, she officially received the title she anticipated most, Nana. She played an active role in raising four of her granddaughters. You would often find Monique sharing her love of cooking, gardening, swimming, and of course, shopping, with her grandchildren. Monique’s amazingly kind, selfless, and eternally loving spirit lives on through her family, friends, neighbors, and all who loved her.
Monique has called Florida her home since 2017, where she will be laid to rest. A celebration of life will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Visitation will be held at 2 pm, service at 3 pm (please no black attire, Monique lived in color), with a reception to follow. Your presence is appreciated. However, if your absence is required and to honor Monique’s love of gardens, flowers can be sent to Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 US-301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592.
