Michael Roebuck's Obituary
Michael Hans Roebuck,66, was unexpectedly called to his heavenly home on November 10, 2025. He was born in Hof, Germany, on March 29, 1959 and came to the United States with his family at the age of 8 in 1967. Michael served in the United States Navy and was a proud veteran, whose service to his country was a source of immense pride and he encompassed the definition of a “True American”. During the span of his career, he worked at AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Avaya where his technological wit and work ethic were second to none. In the last few years, he worked at Publix, where his larger-than-life personality was a true testament to his character and he embraced every day to its fullest. He was an avid deer hunter since his youth and being out in the woods was one of his favorite places to be. When hunting season began, you could always find him with his big “little” brother, Jay Diether, or as he so lovingly nicknamed him “Squirrel”. Recently, he took up bike riding and looked forward to his nightly rides out in the country with his music on full blast, but in his quiet moments, he wrote poetry, like his dad, he had a special way with words. He also enjoyed watching his favorite football team, The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and was a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, William Spencer Roebuck, and his mother, Ursula Edna (Fickenwirth) Roebuck. He is survived by his two daughters, Mellicha Wilson (Scott) of Louisville, KY and Brittany Hemmingway (Jonathan) of Plant City, FL; his big “little’ brother and hunting partner, Jay Diether; his best friend of 37 years, Carolyn Batson Diether; brother, Charles Roebuck. The centerfold of his joy was being “Papa Michael” to his six grandchildren Maddox, Briella, Ashley, Sean, Sophie, and Landen; and seven great-grandchildren who will continue to carry his memory and legacy forward.
A memorial service to honor Michael’s life will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on November 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the legacy of a man who left a mark on so many lives. Michael’s spirit, love for nature, and devotion to family will be remembered always.
The family is gathered at the home of his daughter, Brittany Hemmingway.
