Martin Mathisen Kveseth's Obituary
Martin “Mark” Mathisen Kveseth
March 27, 1952 – October 29, 2025
Martin Mathisen Kveseth, affectionately known as “Mark,” went home to the Lord on Wednesday morning. He had a gift for making everyone feel seen and valued, believing that acknowledging others—no matter their status—was one of the most meaningful things a person could do in life.
Born in Washington, D.C., to Per and Dorothy Kveseth, Martin grew up in Laurel, Maryland. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an aircraft mechanic on F-14s, retiring after 22 years with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. During his distinguished career, he served with Top Gun and aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, among many other aircraft carriers. Martin took great pride in mentoring and guiding his fellow sailors, always striving to bring out the best in those around him.
After his military service, Martin worked in logistics and retired as Regional Manager of Student Driver Services at Swift Transportation in Memphis, TN. He was deeply respected and loved by truck drivers and colleagues alike for his kindness, leadership, and attention to detail. He later settled in Tampa, Florida, where he spent the rest of his years surrounded by family and the sunshine he so loved.
Martin was the kind of father people hope for and pray to be—loving, selfless, and steadfast. He put his family first, loved fiercely, and never gave up on anyone. An animal lover and gifted storyteller, he often shared tales from his Navy days and his travels around the world, captivating everyone who listened.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Per and Dorothy Kveseth, and his brother, Ronald Kveseth. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Ingas), his son, Scott, and two beloved grandchildren, Ieva and Lukas.
Martin will be remembered for his warmth, his generosity, his sense of duty, and the deep love he carried for his family and friends. His presence made life brighter for all who knew him, and words could never express the true loss of losing Martin.
