Marilyn Kay Cocco's Obituary
Marilyn Kay Cocco (née Macki) was born on June 18, 1953, in Newberry, Michigan, to Kathryn and Vilio Macki, the second of two daughters. She passed peacefully at home in Wimauma, Florida, on January 16, 2026, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer.
Marilyn was a devoted mother to two children—Alexander Cocco (St. Petersburg, FL) and Andria Cocco-Ondina (Virginia Beach, VA)—and a loving grandmother to her beloved grandson, Taylor. She is also survived by her sister, Dr. Victoria Macki, and many dear friends and cousins.
As a young adult, having had her fill of cold, dark Michigan winters, Marilyn bravely struck out on her own and moved to Florida. She settled in West Palm Beach, where she met her future husband, Richard (Rick), and where her children were born. The family also lived in the Miami area for several years before she moved to Wimauma in recent years.
Marilyn spent most of her adult life in advertising and sales, excelling most recently as a recruiter for a specialized construction and management company. She thrived in this work due to her persistent diligence and genuine interest in meeting her clients’ needs.
Above all, Marilyn was a devoted mother and grandmother, a loyal friend, and generous with her time and heart. She possessed a determinedly cheerful disposition and never gave up, no matter the challenges. In any gathering, she stood out—magnetically drawing people into her warm circle. She was simply unforgettable.
Marilyn was also a devoted Scientologist, spending much time and effort delving into its teachings and practices.
A Celebration of Life will be held for her at the Church of Scientology of Tampa, 1300 East 8th Avenue, Tampa, FL 33605, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM. All who knew and loved her are warmly invited to attend and share memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates thoughts and memories shared at the service.
