Marian Sue Gibbs' Obituary
Marian Sue Gibbs, 79, passed away suddenly on April 24, 2026. She was a beloved wife, sister, and friend.
Marian was born in Charleston, West Virginia to Mr. and Mrs. Jake Elswick, who preceded her in death. She grew up and went to business school following high school and eventually became a business manager. At 21, she married the love of her life, Wayne Gibbs, and they ventured through life together for 58 years. Marian was a very hard worker, but in her free time, she loved to go antiquing and shopping at flea markets. She even collected hand carved wooden spoons. She also loved to cook, she saw that as a way to let people know how much she cared about them. Marian always put everyone else’s needs before her own. She was a generous and kind lady, who didn’t want anyone to make a fuss over her, but would definitely make a fuss over others.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, and 4 siblings: Shirley Rhodes, Drenda, Gary Elswick, Sr, and Linda Suenski.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Wayne; her brother, Larry, her sister Darla and wife, Dottie; her brother in law, Richard Gibbs, niece, Tracy Gibbs, nephew, Gary Elswick, Jr., cousin, Ruth Ann Bailey, very special friends, Alley and Charles, her close friend, Ginger, and her cherished baby girl cat, Gigi.
