Maria Margarita Garcia Known as Margaret was born on May 22, 1948, to German Adorno and Maria Miranda in Santurce, Puerto Rico and moved to Kingston, New York.
Margaret with the encouragement of her husband, Mario Garcia, exceled in her career as a social worker for the State of Florida, specifically with the Department of Children and Families in Tampa. Her passion for helping those in need extended beyond her family and friends. She was an activist for the Hispanic community - empowering, supporting, and advocating rights of individuals, especially those who needed a voice. She leaves this legacy to her family who continue in her footsteps.
Maria Margarita enjoyed cooking for her family, bringing them together not only to celebrate special occasions, but to enjoy each other’s company. Expressing her love through service to her family; specifically caring for her two youngest grandchildren and ensuring their welfare.
Maria Margarita battled Bile Duct Liver Cancer for the last 6 weeks of her life. Despite, the poor prognoses from doctors, she remained optimistic. She continued to remain strong in her faith and in good spirit during this time. She welcomed and encouraged others to pray for her. She remained positive and looked to the Lord for strength and comfort.
She is survived by her husband Mario Garcia, seven children (chicks as she called us); Noemi, Isaac Jr, Tony, Eliezer, Rebecca, Mario Jr and Natalie and fifteen grandchildren; Margie, Tito, Nicole, Nereida, Isaac III, Roselie, Angie, Stephanie, Ness, Rhy, Zachary, Angel Isaac, Jesenia, Lil Mario and Lucas and seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and warrior. She will forever be missed immensely by all of us.
