Lucy Bell Phillips' Obituary
Lucy Bell Phillips, 79, passed away January 6, 2018. She was born October 12,1938 in Shellman, Georgia to the late Thomas and Gladys (Brooks) Sammons. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Doyle “Curtis” Phillips, and her siblings - Malcolm Sammons, Mary Ann Zanios, Doyle Sammons, Sandra Ann Miller, and Winnie Lee Brown.
In 1944, Lucy and her family moved to Tampa from Cuthbert, Georgia. Lucy worked as a nurse at University Community Hospital in Tampa for many years.
After her retirement, Lucy looked forward to her monthly get togethers with the girls from work. She enjoyed spending time shopping and dining out with her best friend Elaine Swank.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Timothy Power and his wife Jackie of Metairie, LA and step-sons Nathan Phillips and his wife Darlyn of Dunnellon, Florida; and Stephen Phillips of Dunnellon, Florida; grandchildren, Jason Power and his wife Erin; John Curtis Phillips; Brittany Reeves and Allisha Will; great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Eleanor, Cooper-Cain, Kaitlynn, and Kynnedy as well as her sisters and brothers – Jane Martin (Mac), Joyce Hart (Wayne), Lois “Cookie” Higgs (Wayne), Denise Christopher, Buddy Sammons, Thomas Sammons, Jr., (Sherry), and Bo Sammons.

There will be a memorial service and interment at Sunset Memory Gardens at a later date. Memorial contributions in Lucy’s honor may be given to the American Cancer Society. Memories and condolences may be left online at www.sunset-fh.com.
