Nana was a real character. When she showed up at the house when I was a kid, we knew something exciting was about to happen. She might take us strawberry picking, resulting in 1000 jars of preserves, or have us peel hard pears on the back porch for a few days. Whatever project (or card game) Nana had in mind, it built endurance, stamina, and patience. I appreciate that about her memory. - Carla Savage, granddaughter
