Leonard Edward Swahn's Obituary
Leonard "Ed" Swahn, 94, of Tampa, Florida passed from this life on December 25, 2014. He was born in Scooba, Mississippi in 1920 to parents Leonard and Olive Swahn (Ballard). He grew up in Macon, Mississippi and came to central Florida in 1934 with his family. After graduating from high school he moved to Tampa to take a job with the Krauss Brothers Lumber Co. where he worked for 43 years. Ed was also a WWII veteran and served in the radio signal corp in the Army.
After the war he met Mildred Tinius during her first year of work at Florida Christian College. They married the next year and remained married for 57 years. After retiring from the House of Doors, he continued to work and serve with the Lord's family that worshipped at Seminole Church in Wellswood. He began worshipping there in 1939 and continued to be a part of that congregation until he died.
His wife Mildred preceded him in death in 2005. He is survived by two children Sidney Swahn of Johnson City, TN and Marilyn Lovell and her husband Don of Tarpon Springs, FL; grandchildren Tanya, Matthew and Jeff; several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens, Thonotosassa, FL on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 11AM.
A memorial service will be held for him on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at 11:45AM in the Seminole Church building, 4740 Wishart Blvd., Tampa.
