It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leona Ruth Smith, who finished the race and joined the Heavenly Hosts on June 6, 2025, at the age of 88. Leona was a beloved mother, grand mother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. cherished by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Born on March 20, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois. Leona dedicated her life to nursing, leaving an indelible mark on her community and the lives she touched.
Leona is survived by her sons Lonnie and Tim Smith, and daughters Lonna Coufal and Cindy Whalen.
Services to celebrate Leona’s ’s life will be held on Wednesday June 11, in Thonotosassa at Sunset Gardens at 11:00a.m.
Leona will be missed and never forgotten. Her love, laughter, and wit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
