In Christ Alone, My Hope is found
Mrs. Leelamma Cherian was born on April 25th, 1936.
Leelamma went to be with the Lord on June 18th, 2022. She passed away peacefully and was surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents as well as her 7 siblings. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Cherian P. Kurian, children, Dr. Alice John, Dr. Lindsay John (Son-in-law), and Tom Kurian, Caroline Kurian (Daughter-in-law) and 2 amazing grandchildren, Lauren John and Christian Kurian as well as loving family members both near and far and so many dear friends.
By the grace of God, Leelamma lived a happy and glorious life and was loved by all. After coming to Chicago in 1969, she worked as a Registered Nurse in Chicago, as well as in Columbia, South Carolina and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Leelamma and Cheriachen were members of the Chicago Mar Thoma Church from the beginning. The Chicago Mar Thoma Congregation of the 70's gratefully remember her active role in supporting Cheriachen and other pioneers in setting up the first Mar Thoma Church of Chicago. After moving to Florida, they were active participants in the South Florida MTC, St. Luke's MTC and currently are members of St. Mark's MTC in Tampa, Florida.
Leelamma's deep faith in the Lord gave her courage and wisdom to go through all life situations. Even though she was quiet and soft spoken, she was strong and cheerful with a beautiful smile. We thank the Almighty Lord and praise God for Leelamma's life. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
