Larry Cottrill's Obituary
Larry Cottrill passed away Friday, October 2nd due to complications from the Corona Virus.
Larry is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 40 yrs, Denise Cottrill: his youngest daughter, Jenna Pullaro; his twin brother Dennis Cottrill; his sisters Joyce Baker and Linda Cottrill. Larry was predeceased by his parents and eldest daughter, Daina, so now they are happily reunited in Heaven.
Larry was a devoted father and grandfather. A true family man! There were very few days Larry did not surround himself with his grandchildren - swimming, playing games, napping in his signature chair and hunting the farms. He had a heart for serving and helped make a home where everyone always felt welcome. He was the best girl dad! He never missed a Girl Scout camp out, homecoming court walk, chorus and orchestra concert or sporting event. In fact, he was often the team dad and contractor!
He was an avid hunter. Larry started hunting at our family’s camp at the age of 13. Most of his best times were spent at Gulf Hammock and he was tickled that his youngest grandson wants to be a great hunter just like his Nanu.
In his younger years, Larry was an extremely talented wood worker, inheriting the learned skill from his father who was a carpenter. All of the furniture and decorations he made are flawless and beautiful - pieces that will now be treasured by his loved ones forever.
Larry was a big Teddy Bear. He could be stern, often had few words to say, but rest assured they were kind and meaningful. Larry will be deeply missed by all of his loved ones, his friends and everyone who knew him.
It was Larry’s wish to not have services, but instead he wanted his family and friends to get together, eat and share great stories about him.
His family asks that if you’d like to make donations on his behalf to do so to Metropolitan Ministries. Larry and his wife made such a great life for their girls, and they tried to do the same for others every year by donating their time, material items and money to Metropolitan Ministries.
