Kenneth Andrew Hahn's Obituary
Kenneth Andrew Hahn passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2021 in Brooksville, Florida. He was 77. Kenny was born on March 12, 1944 to Andrew and Geraldine Hahn in Boston, MA.
Kenny is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Joan; his three children, Kimberly Cortez (husband Paul), Paula Holliday (husband Jim) and William Updike; and his five grandchildren, Cody, Selena, Hannah, Heath and William. He is also survived by his faithful little dogs, Pearl, Bella and Ruby. Kenny is predeceased by his parents and brother Keith. In his youth, Kenny was an alter server at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Tampa. After graduating from Chamberlain High School in 1963, Kenny went to work for PYA Monarch, a division of Sara Lee Corp. for over 45 years. He was always loyal to the company and his fellow employees. After Morrison Cafeterias closed, Kenny helped every employee under his supervision find another job through relocation or transfer. Kenny developed great longtime friendships in the racing community. Whether at the track in competition or at home working on the race car in the garage, Kenny shared a common bond with fellow race car enthusiasts. Kenny was recognized for being one of the best of the best drag racers when his name was engraved on the Winston Monument at Don Garlits Museum in Ocala as he was inducted into the National Hot Rod Hall of Fame in 2015.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
