Joyce Ann Perkins' Obituary
Joyce Ann Perkins, 67, of Seffner, was peacefully called to heaven on Sunday, October 17, 2021, surrounded by her loving family and friends at her daughter's home. In February, a severe silent seizure put her in a coma. She fought her way back and regained consciousness, but it was discovered that she had advanced autoimmune meningitis, an inflammation of the brain, and a condition from which she never recovered.
Joyce was born in Williamsburg, Kentucky on September 1, 1954, and was the eldest daughter of the late Clarence and Dorothy (Lee Cox) Perkins. She was a certified nursing assistant and enjoyed working in nursing homes with the elderly. She was also a beloved bartender at Art's Lounge (Seffner) for many years and loved dolphins, the sand and sea, flea markets, and a strong vodka and orange juice. Her vivacious, outspoken personality was treasured, as was her heart of gold.
She will be dearly missed by her partner of 27 years, Larry Emrick; three children, Frank Colquhoun, Sarah (Stidham) Wells, and Jerry Hall; six grandchildren, Bobby Bentz, Amanda Aguero, Alexis Colquhoun, Frank Colquhoun Jr., Cassidy Hall, and baby Colquhoun; six great-grandchildren, Nathanial Aguero, Zaylee Aguero, Jon Mock, Anthony and Angelo Aguero, and Annabelle Simmonds; her siblings, Arthur Perkins, Linda Hall, Arnold Perkins, and Shirley Napier; and last but not least, her two chihuahuas, Pearl and Chloe.
Memorial service will be from 11 am till 1 pm on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Sunset Memory Gardens, located at 11005 N US Highway 301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592.
