Joseph Yeager's Obituary
Joseph George Yeager, 92, of Lutz, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024. He was a kindhearted, generous, and brilliant friend, stepfather, grandfather, and he will be dearly missed.
Joe loved college football, cake, and ice cream, and playing cards and gambling. His favorite games were Gin and Rummy, and of course, blackjack. As he got older, he began to really enjoy going out to dinner, because of the atmosphere, the conversation, and the company. Back in the day, Joe loved hanging out with his son, Michael, especially when fast cars were involved. Sadly, Michael preceded him in death, and he was devastated, but not broken. He always put others first, at times to his own detriment. But he would do anything for anyone, and he always had a kind word or warm hug for anyone who needed one. He said his biggest regret was not taking the job in Jacksonville, offered to him by George Jenkins when he was 18. But he had a life filled with love and laughter, and he shared that with everyone he could. He accepted the Lord later in life, and he was baptized at Idlewilde Baptist church in Lutz.
Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma; his beloved son, Michael; and his brother, Arthur.
Joe is survived by his stepdaughters, Angela, and Jeanette; Angela’s children, Gerrit and Avery, who thought of Joe as a grandfather, and called him “Pops”; his niece, Elisa Yeager. He is also survived by his dear friend, Maxine; and her 4 children, Rob, Tim, Sherry, and Judy, and Judy's son Tristan, who adored Joe and called him "JoJo.
With deepest respect to Joe’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service.
