Joseph Maybank Turney Jr.'s Obituary
Joseph Maybank Turney, Jr, 93, of Brandon, passed away on May 14, 2022, at Brandon Hospital.
Joe was born on September 29, 1928, in Tampa, FL the son of Joseph M. and Abbie Inez (Shaw) Turney, Sr.
Joe is survived by his brother Alan E. (Faye) Turney; sister-in-law: Jean Turney; brother-in-law: Leroy Pellum; daughter: Nita Dollar; grandchildren: Deborah L. Spinka; Catherine Allen; Leila Johnson; Connie Walker; Wanda Durbin; Lee Dollar; David Dollar; Penny Dollar; Ruthe and David Folsom who was like a son and his longtime caregiver, several nieces and nephews, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy; brother Wallace Turney; sisters: Vivian Levy, Gloria E. Pelham, Phyllis E. Turney, Sylvia F. Pellum, Eleanor F. Brown; daughter: Yvonne B. Powell, Sandy Fowler; Son: David Christianson; Grandson: Curtis Powell, and his favorite dog GIGI.
Joe was an Army veteran, having been deployed in Germany.
Services for Joe will be at 11am on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, with visitation being held from 10am until 11am at the funeral home. Joe will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens.
