Jose "Joe" Daniel Machin's Obituary
Joe Machin, a native of Tampa, who was born and raised in Ybor City, passed away June 17, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Evaristo and Isabel Machin, and his son, Danny Machin. "Pepe" was a graduate of Jefferson High School class of 1952, where he lettered in basketball. He was in ROTC, and later entered the Air Force where he became an aircraft mechanic and attended Embry - Riddle Aeronautical University, then he became a certified Airframe and Powerplant Technician. After leaving the Air Force, Pepe joined the City of Tampa Fire Rescue, where he retired as a Captain after 21 years of service to his community. Pepe was an avid hunter, fisherman, gunsmith and gun collector, a leather smith and an amazing cook. He was the firehouse chef and won city awards for best flan in Tampa. Pepe was a foodie, he loved trying out new restaurants, and treasured his book and magazine collections. He leaves behind his dedicated and loving wife of 64 years Olga Machin along with his grandchildren; Ashley Machin, Waylon Machin, and Michael Machin, Great grandchildren, Chase, Stella, Jaxson, Joseph and great-great grandson, Eli.
He will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens in a private service.
