Jose Ramon Lagares' Obituary
Jose Ramón Lagares, age 68, lost his battle with cancer, and his faith became sight on December 17, 2023. He passed peacefully in New Port Richey, Florida, surrounded by his wife, children, and loved ones.
Jose was born on May 18, 1955, in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, to Raul and Miguelina Lagares. He moved to Stamford, Connecticut, at the age of 8 where he resided until moving to Tampa, Florida, in 2004. On October 5, 1991, he was married to his beloved wife Jacqueline and shared 32 years of marriage together.
He attended Hunter College in New York for 2 years and Florida Baptist College for 2 years. He served in the Army Reserve for 6 years and owned his landscaping business for 14 years. Jose loved spending time with family, had a green thumb, loved playing and watching sports, especially the New York Yankees. He also loved teaching others life skills and was always handy and ready to help others.
Jose accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and became a member at Landmark Baptist Church in Stamford, Connecticut, in 1997. He was a devoted Christian and loved serving at West Gate Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida, with his beloved wife. He shared God’s love with everyone he could until his passing. His favorite Bible verse was Philippians 1:21, "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
Jose is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline Lagares and children Jonathan Lagares, Jovaneli Lagares, Jazmine Cuddyer, son-in-law Robert Cuddyer III, and grandson Josiah Cuddyer. He is also survived by his siblings Elizabeth Melendez, Nancy Nieves, and Mickey Lagares. He is preceded in death by his parents Raul Lagares and Miguelina Lagares and grandson Robert Cuddyer IV. He was loved dearly and will be missed greatly.
Visitation will be held at West Gate Baptist Church, 5121 Kelly Road, Tampa, Florida, 33615 on January 6th, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at 3:00 pm at the Sunset Memory Garden, 11005 US 301, Thonotosassa, Florida, 33592.
