John R. Drawbaugh Jr's Obituary
On Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, John Raymond Drawbaugh Jr. went to be with his Lord.
Born Oct. 13, 1938, in Williamsport, Pa., he was the son of John R. Sr. and Eleanor (Irvin) Drawbaugh.
Surviving is his loving wife Barbara, whom he married on July 16, 1959.
After graduating from high school, John enlisted in the United States Air Force. While serving, he learned the trade of a machinist and was honorably discharged.
He worked for GTE Sylvania in Montoursville, Pa., until he retired. He also spent two decades working as a Deputy Game Protector for the PA Game Commission in Lycoming County.
John loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and spent many hours in the wild. His most recent hobbies were tinkering in his workshop and playing shuffleboard with his friends in Florida. He lived a full life and volunteered for many causes in his lifetime. One that he was most proud of was his involvement as a coach for Special Olympics.
John was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Norma Bower.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his four children, Catherine (Keith) Redden, Michael (Stacey) Drawbaugh, Deborah (Bruce) Heisley, and Rebecca (Tim) McCaffrey; four grandchildren, Tessa Drawbaugh (Nathan Kurtz), Jennifer (Benjamin) Toner, Michael Jr. (Aleese) Drawbaugh and Crystal (Dakota) Sims; a sister, Dori (Stanley) Weaver; and a brother-in-law, John Bower.
There will be a small celebration honoring his life for family and close friends at a later date in Williamsport PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Special Olympics Lycoming County or to Bay Pines VA Hospital (Bay Pines VA Healthcare System (135) P.O. Box 5005 10000 Bay Pines Boulevard Bay Pines, FL 33744).
