John Stephen Dougherty, 65, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026.
Born on August 7, 1960, John lived a life centered around family, service, and the simple joys he loved most.
John proudly served his community as a retired Tampa Police Officer, dedicating many years to protecting and helping others.
Beyond his career, he was known for his love of baseball, hunting, and fishing — passions that brought him happiness throughout his life.
Above all else, John’s greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. His family was truly his whole world.
He is survived by his children, John Todd Dougherty, 38; Cheyenne Alese Herlong, 32, and her husband Jon Herlong; and Hunter Dougherty, 30.
He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Levi, Liliana, Madelynn, and Lydia, who brought endless light and love into his life.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Blackstock and his beloved ex-wife and the mother of his children, Rena Todd. Their love and the family they built together remained one of the greatest blessings of his life.
John will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strength, his sense of humor, and the countless memories shared with those he loved most.
His presence will be deeply missed, but the love and legacy he leaves behind will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
