Jasmine Marie Licea's Obituary
Princess Jasmine Marie Licea was born on December 23, 2003 to Dolores Marquetti. She was named after Dolores’s favorite Disney movie Aladdin and her middle name, Marie, named after Dolores’ sister Jessica. She was Dolores’s barbie doll who loved to dress her up in different outfits and take her out.
Jasmine was a fan of sports at an early age. Her favorite football team was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and she loved the Lakers and Lebron James was everything. While at Lennard High School, Jasmine played basketball and flag football and loved it. She joined Fellow Christian athletics. She was tough as nails; whenever she fell down you knew she would get right back up. Jasmine was gifted when it came to academics. Throughout grade school she received several presidents’ awards and was in different honors programs. Jasmine was also in the collegiate program at Lennard High School. Jasmine also joined JROTC and it was then that she knew she wanted a career with the military though she could not decide which branch. Then one day she woke up and said “I want to wake up to the sunrise and go to sleep when the sunsets on the water”. The United States Navy it was.
Jasmine joined Wawa in the summer 2021 and loved working in the deli. Everyone that knows Jasmine knows she loved shoes. She was most happy in a pair of sneakers with a matching hat waking up every day choosing to be drippy. Jasmine loved social media and posted herself daily with a cool quote. Her timeline of events for the day started with her Kicks of the day and usually ended with her “dad” Sgt. Bailes. She was a thrill seeker; no roller coaster was a match for her. She wanted to ride the tallest and the fastest. Jasmine loved to take cruises and being able to get off the boat to explore different countries. She loved music, listening to it as loud as possible. Gaming was Jasmine’s favorite past time with her game of choice being COD, Call of Duty. Jasmine would play COD daily with all of her military family and if they were not on, she would message them relentlessly “It’s COD time”. Jasmine made so many lasting friendships during her short 18 years. Jasmine challenged all that loved her. From teachers, to coaches, to mentors, to friends, family, and of course parents. If she did not give you attitude at one point or another than she did not love you.
Jasmine was ready to set sail and start her dreams on July 11. Tragically, Jasmine was called home on March 25, 2022.
Jasmine is survived by her loving Mother, Dolores Taylor, her devoted Maddy, Thomika Taylor, and her little brother Alex Torres. Grandparents: Manuel and Martha Marquetti, Shirley Marquetti, Donald and Brenda Taylor, and Joseph and Lavette Hart. Her Tio and Tia Johan and Jessica. Tio: Tito Marquetti. Her Uncle DJ Aionta Taylor. Uncle and Aunt Antonio and Jessica Gonzalez. And a host of cousins, family and supportive Friends.
