Janice A Cleotelis' Obituary
In Loving Memory of Janice A. Cleotelis (née Reed)
November 2, 1943 – December 30, 2025
Janice A. Cleotelis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Lutz, Florida on December 30, 2025, at 8:45 a.m., surrounded by family. Born on November 2, 1943, in Vancouver, Washington, Jan lived a life filled with grace, kindness, and devotion to her family.
On October 20, 1960, Jan married the love of her life, Hippocrates “George” Cleotelis, and spent the next 65 years together building a beautiful life rooted in love and family. Jan was a devoted mother to three children: Georgianna Strickland, John Cleotelis, and Demetrious Cleotelis. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Jan will be remembered for her warm heart, unwavering strength, and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. She had a gift for making people feel seen and valued—through her gentle words, her listening ear, and her quiet acts of generosity. Her joy was found in life’s simple moments: tending her garden, sharing stories over coffee, playing a good game of Scrabble, and crocheting beautiful pieces that will be treasured for years to come.
Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and the comforting aroma of something baking in the oven—especially on cookie day. Everyone felt welcomed and treated like family. Her love was the thread that wove our family together, and though she is no longer with us in body, her presence will forever be felt in the spaces she filled with light.
She is survived by her loving husband George; her children and their spouses: Georgianna & Johnie Strickland, John & Gundi Cleotelis, and Demetrious & Heidi Cleotelis; her sister Carolyn Jordan; her grandchildren Greg Fischer, John Mason, Anastasia Fischer, and Nicholas Cleotelis; and her great-grandchildren Bryce-Noah Fischer, Arabella Rose Fischer, and John Mason. She is reunited in peace with her parents Gerald & Cecil Reed and her brother Marvin “Bud” Reed, whose memories she held close to her heart.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks that you honor Jan’s memory by donating to a Veteran’s organization or the Humane Society.
“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: ‘Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.’”
-Proverbs 31:28-29 (NIV)
