Janet Elaine Ford's Obituary
Janet Elaine Ford (née Fulton) was born on April 26, 1956, and raised in Tampa, FL by Carl and Frances Fulton. She was the middle child of nine children and a self-described daddy’s girl. Growing up, she saw herself as shy, but after graduation from high school, she blossomed into an extremely social person who connected with everyone and forged many lifelong friendships. Jan was a strong, independent woman. She always spoke her mind and was quick to tell people what she thought. Yet, she was also very generous with her time and resources, often sending gifts and helping people in times of need.
With encouragement from her brother, Benny, Jan applied for a job at General Telephone & Electronics Corporation (GTE) and started working for the company in 1976. She became a design engineer, loved her job, and retired after more than 40 years of dedicated service. After retiring, she bought a house in Dunedin, FL to get away from the rat race and live a calmer life. She quickly made new friends in Dunedin and loved her neighbors.
Jan was a vibrant, spunky person who enjoyed art, music (e.g., jazz, Gaither Vocal Band, Andrea Bocelli), dancing, traveling, thrifting, telling jokes, and being with friends and family. She and her chocolate lab, Maverick, went on regular walks and were the best of friends. Jan loved The Lord, regularly attending Countryside Christian Church and witnessing to others about her faith.
Jan is survived by the light of her life and daughter Elaina M. Ford-Rivera (Antonio); sisters Shirley McNab (Calvin), Carol Wells, Shellie Fulton; brothers David Fulton (Todd), Raymond Fulton (Niki), and Mark Fulton (Tammy); nieces Danielle Swiger (Justin), Cornelia Fulton, and Sheryl Fulton; and nephews Philip McNab, Nicholas Fulton, Robert Fulton Jr., Randy Wells, Darren Wells (Danielle), and Alexander Wells (Jamie). Jan’s parents, Carl B. Fulton Sr. and Frances M. Fulton, and brothers, Carl B. Fulton Jr. and Robert Fulton Sr., passed away before her to go to their heavenly home.
Jan will be dearly missed by the countless people who loved her.
